When affiliation to the W.A. ended a few years ago, the existing members of about 20 ladies still wished to continue their ministry of service to the church and to focus more on our own community where the needs are ever increasing. To that end we are continuously making and delivering soup and sandwiches. Of course, knitting is an ongoing project in summer and winter. Jerseys, caps and all baby garments go to various charities and hospitals. We have also been approached by a school in Macassar to knit jerseys, and this will be carried out.
Those members who are in hospital receive “love boxes”, where they are encouraged to open one item a day as a means of reminding them of God’s love and care.
Funerals are also catered for by the L.F.C. as we ensure that there is tea and coffee available after the service.
Sencit also benefits from a monthly donation that goes towards the buying of toiletries for each individual (this is in conjunction with the church mission fund contribution), as they do not have the means to buy their own toiletries. They have also given gloves, beanies, scarves and bed socks to the residents in past years.
The L.F.C. is very grateful for donations of wool and finances in order to assist in the ways that we do. We have a craft table that is available every Saturday morning in the church hall. It helps to add to our fundraising, as does the Tea and Scones we sell Saturday mornings between 9 – 11:00 am.
You are always welcome to come and join us for this at a cost of R10 for the tea and scones with jam, cheese or other toppings.
The funds that are generated by the L.F.C. are used for our outreach projects as well as other church needs or activities.
Meetings are held twice monthly by the Friendship Club Ladies and we would welcome ladies to come and join in Christian fellowship (followed by tea and some eats of course).
